Vintage Golf

What goes best with wine? Ask Californians and they’re likely to say, “golf.”

Just about anywhere you travel here, you’ll find two things in common… golf and wine, as California’s sun-kissed climate has made “The Golden State” the ideal place to experience grapes and “birdies.” For every golf course in the state, there’s a commercial winery – about 800 of each – and all are worth tasting.

North of San Francisco lie the famous wine growing regions of Sonoma and Napa Counties. Rodney Strong, Jordan, Ferrari-Carano, Mondavi, Cakebread and Heitz are among the names of viticultural baronies found along Sonoma and Napa county roads. Their wineries, aging cellars and tasting rooms are impressive grand chateaus, aerie lookouts and surrealistic structures that that overlook a landscape scribed with rows of vineyards and lined with fairways.

Start your California golf and wine sojourn by visiting the California Welcome Center in Santa Rosa. The connection between California wine and golf is immediately evident near the Center at nearby Matanzas Creek Winery with its impressive displays of lavendar and the 36-hole Mountain Shadows Golf Course near Rohnert Park. One of the oldest wineries in California, Gundlach-Bundschu, is a 3-wood drive from Sonoma Golf Club, once declared “near perfect” by golf legend Bobby Jones. And for a true California twist, sip California sparkling wine at the Korbel Champagne Cellars, then tee off through towering redwood trees at Northwood, an executive course designed by Alistair Mackenzie of Augusta National fame.

Four major “wine courses,” are found in the Napa Valley. Chardonnay Golf Club, across from the newly completed Kirkland Ranch winery, has the highest rated 36 holes in the region. Vineyards actually encroach upon Chardonnay’s greens. Or is it the other way around? Further up the Valley in the Atlas Peak wine-growing district is Napa’s preeminent golf resort, Silverado, with 36 holes that host the Senior PGA Transamerica Tournament, each October. Chimney Rock, off the Silverado Trail, is the only Napa Valley golf course actually on the property of a winery. If golf, wine and fine dining are appealing, drive over to the new Yountville Golf Club, then dine in one of Yountville’s exceptional restaurants… (cont.)

Writers Who Scribe About Daily Events Should Never Run Out of Good or Remarkable Content

Be happy, engaged and content with your life, write, in detail about your contentment, it’ll provide you with plenty of content for a book, article, passage or poem. The material base for life-event writing is endless. Everyone has new, different or awesome daily adventures, so if you capitalize on your own daily circumstances, happenstances and life choices, you will have plenty of content by where to base your writing material. Only a lack of imagination or invested interest can preclude your writing and writing idea/content success!

Some of the best advice that I can give is what has worked the best for me in my writing inspiration for writing articles, poetry or for simply journaling. WRITE FROM DAILY INSPIRATION. Let me give you some circumstances that grant you copious abilities to journal. You can create an article or poem by sheer inspiration,or as an open invitation to realize that your life events- when written can convey something truly interesting or amazing to your readers and maybe even for you!

* Walking the dog- Talk about or write about the beautiful scenery, the greenery or let your wandering mind guide your written passages immensely, intensely or whimsically. YOU get the picture LOUD AND CLEAR, you know what I mean, right?

*Cooking dinner~ Most everyone has traveled, out-of-state, or out of the country, or wherever you’ve been, cooking is a world of spices, tastes, people, places, cultures, events and memories. NOTE: Cooking and smelling recreate memories in your brain that cause you to have an emotional outpouring of expression. I remember Louisiana the most when I smell creole food, crawfish and extremely tasty rice dishes. I can write about the many adventures discovering Louisiana along with fellow co-workers that hailed from that amazingly flavorful state. I worked in a different office than they did, but in our global society, I spoke to people from out-of-state more than I spoke to people who sat two cubicles away from me. WOW, isn’t the workplace amazing in 2016?

* Inspiration by unknown or little-known people, places or events- How many times have people been inspirational, in a life- altering change that you made, in your thoughts for wanting to expand your horizon? I have countless senior citizens, in my area of the city, that are taking WordPress classes, computer programmer classes and so many new fangled ways of advanced technology that I am both embarrassed and impressed at the same time!

I went to a funeral and heard a very extensive eulogy about a very dear friend last month, when her husband spoke about her knowledge base and accomplishments, it was such an inspiring way to live. A 70 plus year-old woman probably died because she was generally fatigued by what she had accomplished in her short seventy years. That gives me pause and inspiration to write an adventure about my life story, thus giving me need for more life adventures, adding material and hope for an interesting retirement story, like hers!~

I enjoy learning from you and from others offering me knowledge continuously!
